Gum regeneration

Your gums are the natural shield that ensures the health and survival of your teeth and implants.

Many times, due to excessive brushing or other habits, we notice that the gums recede, exposing part of the tooth root and giving it a “long tooth” appearance.

Also, just like with bone, if you’ve been missing a tooth for a long time, it’s very likely that “good quality” gum tissue will also be lost. This is a key factor to analyse when you need to get an implant, as the gums, along with the bone, will ensure the long-term success of your implant.

Can gums really regenerate?

Absolutely. Often, simply making a small replacement of the gum to cover the area is more than sufficient. In more advanced cases, involving multiple teeth or those that have been missing for a long time, a connective tissue graft may be necessary.

As with most oral health issues, the sooner we treat it, the easier and more predictable it will be.
